Warranty

Motor Warranty: Our motors come with a 12-month warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. This includes internal parts and electronic components. However, it does not cover damage caused by water ingress, overheating, or improper installation. Proper use and maintenance according to the manufacturer's guidelines are essential to avoid voiding the warranty.

Battery Warranty: Batteries are covered for 12 months against defects in materials and workmanship. This includes battery cells and the Battery Management System (BMS). The warranty excludes damage due to self-discharge, water ingress, or excessive current draw. It is important to store and use the battery correctly, avoiding exposure to extreme conditions and maintaining a proper charge level to prevent issues.

Accessories Warranty: Accessories are covered by a 30-day warranty that addresses defects in materials and workmanship. This warranty does not extend to items subjected to misuse or improper installation.

What is Covered

The warranty covers defects in materials or workmanship under normal use during the warranty period. We will repair or replace products or parts that prove defective due to improper material or workmanship, provided they have been used according to the guidelines.

What is Not Covered

The warranty does not cover the following issues:

  • Wear and Tear: Regular degradation over time, such as battery capacity reduction or motor efficiency decline, which is expected with normal use.
  • Physical Damage: Damage resulting from accidents, impacts, misuse, or improper handling. Examples include cracked housings, broken connectors, or damaged wiring from crashes or falls.
  • Improper Use: Using the motor or battery in ways not intended by the manufacturer, including unauthorized modifications, overloading the system beyond its specified limits, or using incompatible components.
  • Environmental Damage: Exposure to extreme weather conditions, such as submersion in water, exposure to excessive moisture leading to corrosion, or use in extreme temperatures that exceed the product's operating limits.
  • Maintenance Neglect: Issues arising from a lack of regular maintenance or failure to follow the provided user manuals. This includes not keeping the battery charged properly, failing to clean and protect electronic connectors, or ignoring signs of wear and needed repairs.
  • Axle Spin-Out: Damage resulting from the axle not being properly restrained, which can occur if nuts are not adequately tightened, or a torque arm is not used where necessary. This can lead to severe damage to motor phase wires and other components.
  • Overheating: Damage caused by running the motor at power levels well beyond its rated capacity for prolonged periods, which can cook the windings, melt insulation, and demagnetize the motor's magnets.
  • Water Damage: Even with well-sealed motors, water ingress can occur, especially if connectors are exposed or improperly installed. This can lead to corrosion and misbehavior of the motor's electronics.

Warranty Claim Process

  1. Contact Us: Reach out to our team support@recyclesbikes.ca with proof of purchase, a detailed description of the defect, and photos of the issue.
  2. Initial Assessment: We may guide you through some troubleshooting steps to diagnose the problem. Many issues can be resolved without the need to return the product.
  3. Return Authorization: If the issue persists, we will provide instructions on how to ship the product back for inspection.
  4. Inspection: Once we receive the product, we will inspect it to determine if the defect is covered under warranty.
  5. Repair or Replacement: If the defect is covered, we will repair or replace the product and ship it back at no cost. If not, we will discuss your options, which may include repair at a discounted rate or return shipping at your expense.
